Description
The “Little Giant” on the label is a tribute to the Newfoundland breed, two of which you may find lounging about the winery on any given day. These dogs are sturdy, friendly giants that were historically bred as a working dog on the eastern seaboard. You can recognize the bottle right away with the redering of the majestic dog.
The Frediani family has been farming in the Napa Valley since 1905. Their several decades old, 20 acre vineyard is located at the end of the Valley in Calistoga where it is dry farmed. The vines are in rocky gravel and bale clay loam soil and experience brutally hot days and chilly nights. This temperature variance results in incredibly lush and intense dark fruit.
Vintage 2019 marks our fourth vintage of this outstanding single vineyard designated Frediani Merlot, bottled exclusively for our Dearden Allocation Society. The Frediani Merlot is deeply colored and opens with dark fruit, blueberries, violets, vanilla and a hint of white pepper.
